My Hometown Bronxville, “How to Keep Your Summer Shape All Winter” by Brooke Marrone, 2010
“As the days get shorter and the weather gets colder, it becomes increasingly harder to make that same commitment to our bodies that we did in the pre-summer months. Without the motivation of having to put on a bathing suit, most people tend to lose their exercise momentum as we head into fall. Unfortunately, it takes a good amount of time to change your body and just when most people start to see the results from their summer exercise routine, their commitment to their workouts starts to wane . . . ”

New York Magazine, 2010
“Brooke Marrone started Park Workouts in 2009 with life coach and marathoner Ann Mehl. During the four one-hour classes (a $100 package), Mehl and Marrone split the group of ten or so participants into two sections loosely based on fitness level. While Mehl takes one group on a 30-minute jog (or speed walk, depending on what gets your heart rate up) around the Reservoir, the other half tone up with Marrone in the Tavern on the Green parking lot. Marrone uses Pilates moves (think planks and hip extensions) with body-weight lifting (like crunches and squats), leaving even the most athletic in the class huffing and puffing. The focus here is on strength, flexibility, and, let’s be honest, toning up that beach body . . . ”

New York Magazine, “Work it Outdoors,” 2010
“Peppy personal trainer Brooke Marrone is holding her Park Workout camps this summer in Central Park. The four-week session is a hybrid of Pilates and body conditioning, and is inclusive of all fitness levels. Classes meet in the Tavern on the Green parking lot . . . ”

Vogue Magazine, “Best Indoor and Outdoor Workouts,” 2009
“Best reason to work out outside: Classes in Central Park with Brooke Marrone Personal trainer Brooke Marrone can cure gym junkies of treadmill addiction with a few laps around leafy Central Park—and that’s just the beginning. Her hour-long class starts with a run around the reservoir, followed by a heart-pumping blend of Pilates, push-ups, crunches, and jump rope. There’s no shortage of props (or inspiration) in the park: Use a bench for a set of superdemanding triceps dips or complete a round of core-chiseling sit-ups while gazing at the branches above . . . “
